Bronx Factory Tour: New York Knitting

It’s Made in NYC week here at Maker’s Row and we are celebrating the brands that prove that New York City is a great place to start a business! Every day this week, we will be sharing interviews with New York City factories and brands and giving you insight into what it’s like to be an NYC creative.

For Made in NYC week, we took a tour of New York Knitting, a factory in the Bronx. Jesse Nepywoda of New York Knitting and partner factory KD gave us a tour of his facility, showed us some samples of products, and answered questions coming in live via Facebook.

Jesse is a liar. It has been 5 weeks since our meeting where I provided reference samples and tech packs. I have yet to even see a picture of a sample and he has not answered my emails, texts, or phone calls in 4 days.

The absolute worst maker on this site. This video should be taken down. This maker is very unprofessional and even abusive to his clients. Nepywoda didn’t even make my goods in the USA, something that Maker’s Row says is not their issue. Beware.

If you value your time and money, do not use New York Knitting/Jesse Nepywoda. I wasted months trying to sample my project with him, and he ultimately could not deliver on our agreement (read: 2 months in and I still didn’t have an actual sample!). I had to terminate our contract and then pester him for another two months to give me a refund (per his refund policy). It wasn’t until I filed a dispute with PayPal that I actually got the refund (win for PayPal!). If you’re new to the industry, like I was, and think you need a factory liaison, you don’t. There are a few great knitting factories in the US who are very accommodating and will actually help you bring your ideas to life – and market!
