Peter Maynard has been crafting fine handmade furniture for more than three decades. His work has been commissioned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and featured in The New York Times, Architectural Digest and American Bungalow magazines. Traditional Home Magazine featured Peter as one of five of the nation's best furniture makers.
Each piece of furniture is made from the highest quality materials, and crafted with great attention to detail, such as composing the boards to get the most dramatic effects out of the woodgrain. His skills include traditional joinery techniques such as full mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails, ornate carving and extensive inlay work. He then finely sands each piece and applies three coats of a hand-rubbed tung oil varnish for a soft lustre which brings out the beauty and richness of the woodgrain. Each piece of furniture is a signed original: a potential heirloom which will increase in value over time.
