Pfendler Post & Pole
started in business in April of 1985. Leo is a transplant from Fryburg, Pennsylvania and moved to Montana in 1972. In August of 1975, he married a local girl, Sherry Skinner, who grew up on a ranch west of Hall, MT. They have three children - Jeremy, Christian, and Racquel. Leo began sawing timber on the right-of-way for the Bonneville Power line in 1984 when he realized there was a need for a post and pole yard in the area, as there was none at that time. Leo and his wife Sherry purchased the post yard business during the winter of 1985-1986, and moved it to its current location on the east end of Drummond. The present site, just off of I-90 makes it a very convenient location for suppliers and buyers alike.
The business employs 10 full time people, including Leo and Sherry, and provides jobs for many self-employed cutters. The business supplies a variety of products, such as tree stakes, rails, posts, jack-legs, crotch-legs, doweled-rail fencing, gates, and split-rails. The product can be purchased doweled, peeled or unpeeled, and untreated or treated with CCA wood preservative.
