Northside: NYC’s Unmissable Design, Tech & Entrepreneurship Festival

The Maker’s Row team is heading to Northside Innovation Expo this week (June 11-12). Along with the likes of Lyft and Venmo to showcase and discover what’s next in technology, entrepreneurship, and design. Now in its seventh year, the Brooklyn-based annual exposition celebrates the technologist, entrepreneurs, and designers changing the sharing experience. Here’s our guide to the must-see, meet and do.

Northside Innovation 2015

Northside Innovation is where those in the know come to discover what’s next in technology, entrepreneurship, content and design. Northside Innovation has two major components: the Northside Innovation Expo and the Northside Innovation Conference. Original programming across three verticals, entrepreneurship, content and design, includes keynotes, fireside chats, panels, workshops and pitch competitions from the world’s innovation leaders. People come from all over the city to hear about the cutting edge of technology and design by those forgetting old ways and forging new paths.

The informative sessions helmed by experts of the field plus the impressive lineup of the coolest companies in design, technology, and entrepreneurship will inspire goers to think outside of the box.

Tina Roth Eisenberg, Swissmiss

Armed with renowned Swiss design influence and completed design studies in Geneva and Munich, Tina Roth Eisenberg crossed the Atlantic and began designing in New York. In 2005, she started Swissmiss, now a popular design blog/studio that showcases the best of design with almost a cult like following to validate its perfectly curated aesthetic.

Andy Dunn, Bonobos

Andy Dunn is an American entrepreneur and founder of New York-based menswear brand Bonobos which is now the largest online apparel store ever built on the web. In 2007, Dunn launched Bonobos to provide better-fitting clothing for me. Considered as one of fashion’s most dynamic entrepreneurs and successful risk takers, Dunn has redefined fashion retail in the e-commerce space.

Bradford Shellhammer, Bezar

Bradford Shellhammer has been named one of the ‘100 Most Creative People In Business’ by Fast Company and coined the ‘King of Quirk’ by Forbes Magazine and the ‘Eames of E-Commerce’ by USA Today. Bradford created Fab.com which transformed how design is sold and consumed. He is an experienced entrepreneur with a unique vision driven by his passion for design and the arts.

Kegan Schouwenburg, Sols

Kegan’s passion to bring nascent technologies to the consumer market is reflective in her years of experience in the industrial design and mass-manufacturing space. Before launching SOLS, she was the director of engineering and operations at Shapeways, where she helmed one the world’s largest 3D printing factories.

Grace Choi, Mink

Meet the serial inventor leading a beauty revolution and teaching the world how to print makeup from the comfort of their home. Grace Choi’s incredible 3D makeup printer is a huge game changer for the $55 billion cosmetic industry. The device will print out everything from colorful lipsticks, to eyeshadows, powders, and creams.
